Token Board ABA was built by an RBT paraprofessional for use during Discrete Trial Training in his ASD classroom — because the laminated board kept losing its velcro, the tokens kept ending up under the table, and every learner wanted a different reinforcer.
So the design goal was narrow and practical: everything a session actually needs, reachable in one thumb-tap, and nothing else on screen competing for the learner's attention. No dashboards to fill out. No login to remember at 8:05 in the morning.
It works the same whether you're an RBT running discrete trials, a teacher managing a transition, a parent getting through a haircut, or a therapist building tolerance for a non-preferred task.

What's inside
A token only works as a reinforcer if it means something to the person earning it. That's the whole reason this app has as many knobs as it does.
Stars, hearts, soccer balls, smiley faces, superheroes, trucks, animals, and abstract shapes — plus crowns, gems, and bolts. If none of them land, snap a photo or pull one from your library and that becomes the token.
Type the reinforcer — "5 minutes iPad time," "trampoline," "one Skittle" — and add a picture of it. Save the ones you use often to a reward library and pull them back up in two taps next session.
Filling the board hands off straight to a countdown timer, so break time has a visible end and an alarm — not a negotiation. Change the length mid-break without leaving the screen.
Save each learner with their own reward, token count, token style, background, and break length — then switch between them in a tap. Token progress saves per student, so a session survives a bell, a fire drill, or a locked screen.
Three tokens for a shaky morning, nine for a learner who's building stamina. Change the count any time — the board redraws instantly, and you can pull a token back off if one was delivered by mistake.
Each token pops in with a sound and a bounce. Fill the board and you get confetti, spinning tokens, and a congratulations chime. Sound is a single switch away if you're in a quiet room or it's the wrong kind of input for your learner.
Pick a solid color for a low-distraction board, or drop in a photo — a favorite character, a calming scene, a picture of the actual reward. High-contrast dark is the default because it keeps the tokens loud.
On iPad the tokens scale up to a size that's easy for a learner to reach and press — a real board on the table between you. On iPhone it's the version that lives in your lanyard pocket.
Student names, reward photos, and progress are stored on the device and nowhere else. No account, no sync, no server — which also means it works with the Wi-Fi off.
How a session runs
Name, reinforcer, and a photo of it. Save it as a profile and you never do this part again.
Choose a token they'll actually work for, a color, a background, and how many it takes.
Deliver a token with a tap. It pops, it sounds, and the board visibly gets closer to done.
Confetti, then straight into the break timer. When it rings, reset and go again.
